The Story County Board of Supervisors approved Resolution 26‑10 on July 29 consenting to the voluntary annexation of a parcel in Section 31 of Union Township into the city of Huxley.
Planning staff said the parcel lies adjacent to Huxley’s existing city limits and is shown as Agricultural Conservation on the county’s Cornerstone to Capstone (C2C) plan. Staff noted the annexation would facilitate development linked to an unnamed potential proposal referred to as “Project Lion.” A consultation meeting was held July 11 and staff reported that all statutory requirements in Chapter 368 of the Iowa Code governing voluntary annexation had been met.
The board voted to approve the resolution and instructed staff to forward the signed resolution to the City of Huxley. No changes to county land‑use mapping or plan designations were reported at the meeting beyond the annexation consent itself.
