The Clinton City Council approved a Class E special-event beer permit for the Pearl Foundation's annual "Sip of Summer" fundraiser at the Kinkade House.
Catherine Burbank, representing the Pearl Foundation, told council members the event is scheduled for Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., will feature about 13 breweries (local and regional), live music, food vendors and that all alcohol would be contained to the Kinkade House grounds. Burbank said the group had hired a police officer for the event and would use volunteers to check identification.
Council asked procedural questions about containment and staffing; Burbank confirmed the alcohol would be restricted to the Kinkade House area, the event would begin at 6 p.m. and volunteers would assist with ID checks.
Council approved the permit by roll call; the motion carried.
Burbank thanked council and council members wished the organizers a safe event.
