The Community Corrections Advisory Board introduced its newly appointed executive director, Corey George, at the July 28 meeting. George was appointed by the county commissioners and will assume the role on Aug. 18, he said.
"I'm super excited to join you — August 18 will be my first day," George told the board. He said he is resigning from his current position in Wayne County and described roughly 30 years of criminal justice experience, including work as an adult probation officer, supervisor and chief, and as a jail diversion/intervention coordinator and court administrator.
Board members welcomed George and said staff will give him time to review intake procedures, rule‑book changes and other operational items presented at the meeting. No formal vote was required; his appointment by the commissioners was reported by the board chair.
Ending: George's start date sets an internal timeline for staff to brief him on outstanding items, including intake policy, proposed rule‑book revisions and commissary contract review.
