Paducah Sports Park: county approves construction payments, awards equipment bids and opens naming-rights process

The court also received and awarded bid packages for park equipment: Cromer Company was awarded the turf scrubber package for $53,866.50, and Midwest Netting Solutions LLC was awarded the batting cage package for $188,390. All actions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
On funding and operations, a Paducah Sports Park representative briefed the court on a request-for-information (RFI) the park issued July 19 seeking potential naming-rights partners. The RFI, the representative said, was published in the Paducah Sun and posted on the county and park websites; responses are due August 18. The park is soliciting proposals that include company name, proposed financial terms and schedules, sponsorship assets and a description of how the partner's image aligns with the park. The scope could cover the entire facility or individual assets such as baseball fields, scoreboards, concession buildings, batting cages and the entry plaza.
Court members asked how naming and sponsorship revenues would be used. The park representative said proceeds are scheduled to go to operating costs as part of the park's pro forma.
The representative said opportunities for sponsorship and naming will be rolled out in phases and that specific field- and asset-level sponsorships will be posted in the coming weeks. The court was told the RFI contacts include the sports tourism commission and Chaz Heron, general manager of Paducah Sports Park.
Other related procurement: earlier in the meeting the court received and opened sealed bids for equipment used at the park. The awards and contract authorizations were made based on the basis-of-design and lowest-qualified bid criteria and were approved by the court during the session.
Taper: county officials said they will continue monthly oversight as construction and commissioning proceed and will cooperate with city staff on reimbursement requests per the interlocal agreement.
