The council recognized a $10,000 donation from Choice Bank to support the Moorhead Farmers Market and associated food-access programs, city staff said.
Steve French, the city’s special event specialist for Parks and Recreation, presented a recognition of Choice Bank’s $10,000 sponsorship and said the contribution supports programs including SNAP matching dollars, market and produce bucks, and the Power of Produce club. French said those programs help ensure families of all ages and incomes can access fresh local foods throughout the season.
Council members praised the donation and discussed farmers market growth. Council Member Batson noted some community perception that the market lacks vegetables and encouraged publicity, while also confirming vendors sell vegetables, herbs, bread, preserves and other goods. Batson provided market hours: Tuesdays 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and noted a Global Market event scheduled the following day from 5 to 7 p.m. at AMComs and Viking Ship Park.
The donation was recognized; no council action or appropriation was taken during the meeting.
