Council approves $17.55 million guaranteed maximum price for Moorhead City Hall renovation

The Moorhead City Council approved the third and final guaranteed maximum price amendment for the City Hall renovation project, authorizing GMP 3 at $17,550,000, construction representatives said.
Assistant City Manager Mike Reetz and Thomas Dahl of Magoff (construction) told the council that GMP 1 and GMP 2 previously covered demolition and structural work and that GMP 3 covers finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and curtain-wall systems. Dahl said GMP 1 was $1,636,127 and GMP 2 was $2,316,240; he said the GMP 3 amount is inclusive of the remainder of the project.
Reetz told the council that approval of GMP 3 would leave the project about $200,000 under the projected budget and that bid results included roughly $700,000 in preferred alternates for comfort and acoustic items. With approval, project staff said the contract suite is complete and work will continue under the GMPs already approved.
Council approved the resolution authorizing GMP Amendment No. 3 by motion and voice vote; Council Member Chuck Hendrickson moved the resolution and Council Member Niesemeyer seconded, and the mayor declared the motion carried. No amendments were offered during the meeting.
Project representatives thanked staff and council for support; no additional public comment or conditions were recorded at the vote.
