The July 29 meeting opened with recognitions for the district communications and media teams and a series of introductions of newly appointed school leaders.
Communications awards Chair Jacobs and Chief Communications Officer Scott Howard recognized the district’s communications division for multiple honors: a 2025 NSPRA Golden Achievement Award for the half‑cent sales tax campaign, three NSPRA Inspire Awards of Excellence for district publications and digital media, and a Telly Award for a “Mondays with Maria” segment on the OCPS Global Family Welcome Center.
New administrators Superintendent Maria Vasquez introduced and the board acknowledged a large slate of newly appointed principals and assistant principals who will lead schools and programs in the coming year. Speakers from the new leadership class often thanked mentors and family; the appointments announced included the following assignments (as presented at the meeting):
