Lebanon council approved Resolution 2025-22 to appropriate $81,182 for the department’s annual SCBA payment from fund 2240 (fire line), following a public hearing with no public comment.
Chief Batts described the equipment and procurement process: the SCBA system replaces a roughly 20-year-old system and the department coordinated purchasing with Zionsville and Whitestown fire departments to test manufacturers and gain buying leverage by combining orders.
Tanya read the resolution language and noted the appropriation covers services and charges for the SCBA equipment. Council voted to approve the resolution by voice vote; second and third motions were recorded (second from Rob, third from Sandra) and no council members opposed.
When a council member asked for clarification, Chief Batts explained, “That is an acronym for self contained breathing apparatus. So that is the tank, the regulator, and the mask that we use in adverse environments.” The council closed the public hearing and approved the appropriation.
