Clallam County staff asked commissioners on July 21 to approve renewal of a contract with the Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to continue funding the Family Juvenile Court Improvement Plan from July through the following June.
The contract covers about $401,373 and supports salary and benefits for the court’s coordinator position, plus $4,000 for an in-person retreat and $250 for a family reunification celebration. County staff described recent activities including a cross-system retreat and coordination with tribal partners and the Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF); staff said one in-person retreat held in June drew about 60 community partners.
Staff noted the state tracks child-related timelines through an AOC system and that data-collection staffing at AOC had recently changed, requiring local coordinators to track some data in the interim. Commissioners asked about program metrics and whether the funding is competitive; staff said the AOC reviews and awards funding specific to courts statewide and that the reported funding is specific to this court.
Commissioners signaled support for the renewal and thanked staff for cross-system coordination with tribes and community partners.
