Alpharetta City Council on July 28 awarded the comprehensive plan minor update contract to MKSK following an RFP process. The update is required every five years by state planning rules to maintain the city’s Qualified Local Government status and to preserve eligibility for certain grants. Senior planner Michael Woodman said the update scope focuses on the future land use element, future land use map, community work program and report of accomplishments. Staff solicited eight consultant teams, interviewed three finalists and recommended MKSK; the firm’s proposed budget for the update is $115,000 and the city budgeted $120,000 for the work. The plan update is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026. Council voted unanimously to award the contract.
