Summary
Superintendent Dr. Curley told the committee the district served more than 1,500 students in summer programs, reported kindergarten registration and a July 29 enrollment total of 11,508, and highlighted a ParentSquare communications initiative that the district calls the '100 Club.'
Superintendent Dr. Curley provided the school committee with a summary of summer programming, enrollment numbers and a district communications milestone during the July 29 meeting.
Dr. Curley said more than 1,500 students attended nine distinct summer programs, including Durfee's summer school and summer enrichment (hundreds of students), first-century learning center programming at multiple schools (more than 400 students), ESY and MLL summer programs and middle-school summer sites that served 75–100 students each. Durfee's summer graduation was scheduled for the Friday following the meeting.
On enrollment, Dr. Curley reported kindergarten registration at 706 and a district total of 11,508 students as of the July 29 report. She said the PACE Center was processing 80 to 100 families a day during the registration push and that 80 or so students appeared on district rolls who required follow-up to confirm non-return status.
The nut graf: the superintendent emphasized that the district's ParentSquare rollout and outreach has reached full activation — 100% of schools and clerical/admin staff trained — and said the district achieved a milestone of 100% of families identified as contactable in the system, an improvement she called the "100 Club."
Dr. Curley asked families to confirm contact details during registration and announced a district survey via ParentSquare asking for family feedback on potential redistricting and k–8 configuration changes; the survey remained open through Sunday following the meeting.
Ending: Dr. Curley said several programs were continuing into early August and invited committee members to visit summer sites; she committed to follow-up on outstanding cost breakdowns for the Durfee summer program when requested by committee members.
