The Yonkers Planning Board reviewed a site plan June 10 for a transport service tenant proposing vehicle parking at 41 Torrey Place in the I District. Nicholas Faustini, speaking for the applicant, said the tenant — an interstate waste/transport service — would park 18 trucks on the site overnight and operate them during the day.
"There are 18 trucks on the site, but the anticipated use would be 12 to 15 of those trucks would be used regularly," said Nicholas Faustini, the applicant representative, adding the vehicles would leave the property around 4 a.m. and return between about 1 and 2 p.m. He said no refuse transfer would occur on site; the facility would be for overnight parking and dispatch as a Lower Westchester satellite office.
Planning staff told the applicant the city’s departmental reviews raised similar issues to other recent matters, including fire and engineering comments. Board members emphasized the block’s heavy traffic and cut‑through use between Nepperhan and Sawmill River Road and instructed the applicant to provide a traffic study covering peak hours on a school day. Faustini said a traffic engineer has already been engaged and the team will submit the study and address departmental comments for subsequent review.
The board did not vote; staff directed the applicant to work directly with the departments on fire, engineering and traffic matters and to return with the requested materials.
