GREENLAND, N.H. — The Greenland Board of Selectmen on June 2 heard an update from the town's facilities committee that a design subcommittee will spend the summer producing fit studies and block plans for a proposed town office and fire station, with draft materials expected for select‑board review in early September.
A committee speaker said the subcommittee — described as three to four members — will "take a moment to breathe" and concentrate on design work over the next three months. The selectmen were told the work is intended to move the project past concept stage toward layouts the broader committee and the board can evaluate.
As part of the facilities review, board members learned that volunteers from the cemetery committee have inquired informally about a roughly 3‑acre parcel behind the town's transfer station. The parcel, near the brush pile and backing up to a gravel area, could be split to provide land for cemetery expansion and public‑works facilities, the meeting heard; no decisions have been made.
Selectmen stressed the discussion is preliminary. "It is very, early in that process, and we would have to get our committee back together to talk about how much land we think we're going to need," a board member said. Any transfer or reallocation of the land would require further study and formal action by the board.
No formal land transfer or vote occurred at the June 2 meeting; the facilities committee will return with drawings and a plan timeline later this year.
