Mayor Roy West presented a proclamation recognizing July 30, 2025 as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Lisa Bowler, founder and CEO of Embracing Freedom, accepted the proclamation and thanked the city.
Bowler described Embracing Freedom's work serving youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking. She said the organization served 81 survivors of child trafficking in 2024 and logged more than 765 crisis‑intervention services during that year. Bowler said the proclamation signals the city’s public recognition of survivors and supports prevention, education and 24/7 crisis advocacy the organization provides.
Ending: Council members thanked Embracing Freedom for its statewide work and recognized the symbolic and practical value of public acknowledgment for survivors and service providers.
