TxDOT Beaumont District reviews projects, council presses agency on safety and contractor cleanup

Martin Gonzalez, district engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Beaumont District, gave an overview of district staffing, safety priorities and active projects, and identified major projects in the area including Cardinal Drive and Eastex widening, the I‑10/US‑69 interchange work and I‑10 pavement operations with multi‑year completion estimates.

Gonzalez said the district covers eight counties and emphasized safety and public outreach. He described two large widening projects—Cardinal Drive (estimated letting and an estimated 2030 completion cited in presentation) and the Eastex northern segment—and an I‑10 widening and pavement program with phased work including removal of the FM‑365 bridge scheduled in 2026 and other segments estimated into 2027–2030.
