Beaumont bond advisory committee recommends about $210 million, four-proposition package for November ballot

A citizen bond advisory committee recommended that the City of Beaumont place a roughly $210 million general obligation bond before voters on the November 2025 ballot, organizing the proposal into four independent propositions covering infrastructure, drainage, facilities and public safety, and parks/trails with a separate downtown economic development component, consultant Jeff Barton told council.

The recommendation came after a months-long process led by consultant Gap Strategies and supported by city staff. Barton said the committee began with more than $1.35 billion in possible projects, prioritized them through repeated meetings, public surveys and an open house, and narrowed its recommendation to roughly $210 million in projects it judged most urgent.

Why it matters: Committee and consultant materials showed infrastructure and drainage topped public priorities in outreach; the committee's four-proposition approach is intended to let voters accept or reject parts of the package separately. Council must still decide whether to call the election and how to package and label propositions; a deadline cited in the presentation for calling an election was Aug. 18, 2025.
