Staff says volleyball tournament groups interested but sports complex size may limit hosting

The staff member said they met with a volleyball group that runs tournaments and that they have also talked to another group in the Orlando area about bringing activities to the facility. “Wewe're not gonna be able to host I don't think we're gonna be able to host them as the the home of this this group, just because we do not have the space to accommodate all of the fields that they need,” the staff member said, adding that the facility could accommodate some activities but not all the fields the groups require.
Staff said these conversations are important to demonstrate potential revenue to support bonds or grants if the city pursues construction or upgrades. Board members asked about timelines for a go/no-go decision; staff estimated “about a year or so out before we're really gonna know definitively.” Staff also discussed whether to begin engineering work sooner to signal project readiness and to help secure funding.
