On the Oasis mixed‑use project, staff said developers cleared trees but are protecting significant wetland areas "above and beyond what code requirements were for that project." Staff noted the Oasis plan includes an internal roadway connecting Williamson to Clyde Morris that should reduce some traffic pressure on LPGA Boulevard.
Why it matters: staff framed these projects as adding local commercial capacity and reducing travel for residents who might otherwise drive outside the area for groceries or services. "If Avalon comes in here and they start building some commercial, they build a shopping center, they build a grocery store, that's gonna eliminate a lot of the traffic that's going, east on Granada," the staff member said in the meeting.
