District to publish public notice for five-year e-learning plan renewal; public hearing required

The district announced it will place its five-year e-learning plan on public notice and hold the required public hearing before renewing the program, which governs synchronous remote instruction on emergency closure days. Administrators said the plan mirrors the model used for recent e-learning days and that the next legal steps — public notification and a hearing — will follow district procedure. A staff presenter said the current plan will be posted for public notice and that the district will publish the hearing notice in the local paper and notify staff and families at least 10 days before the board hearing. “We are required to have a public hearing because of the e-learning laws and rules around that,” the presenter said. If the board approves the plan after the required hearing, staff will submit required paperwork to the regional office of education (ROE) and ISBE. Administrators said the plan remains largely unchanged from the prior cycle and that families and staff have reported few concerns from past e-learning days. The item will return for formal action after the public-notice period and public hearing.
