For polymeric bridge deck overlays (Project 2025-08), the board approved a task order (BFS task order No. 60) for construction inspection services for a not-to-exceed amount of $49,200 to be paid from bridge preservation funds. The board also accepted Ram Construction as the low bidder for the construction work for approximately $261,828.81 (presentation figures). Staff said the overlay is a thin epoxy layer with aggregate applied to bridge decks to protect the deck and extend service life.
All three items were moved and approved on voice votes.
Ending: Staff said work on the bridge overlay project is expected to start within the next couple of weeks; inspection services and construction contracts are in place to begin work.
