The Board of Selectmen on July 29 voted to form a committee to plan North Brookfield’s 250th-anniversary celebrations and authorized a recruitment process to find volunteers to serve on that committee.
Why it matters: A standing planning committee would coordinate events and historical commemorations for a large, multi-event community milestone.
A resident urged the board to form a committee and referenced past anniversary committees and historical materials she maintains. The board then moved to form the group; a motion to do so was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members said they would publicize the volunteer opportunity and include Parks and Recreation among likely committee participants.
No budget, chairperson or membership roster was established at the July 29 meeting; the board said it would advertise for volunteers and return to set a formal charge and membership at a later date.
