County outlines CDBG partnership to expand home repairs, pilot program to start Aug. 1
Summary
Summit County will use Barberton's CDBG funds with county programs to deliver home repairs, weatherization, lead remediation and a new older-adult home-modification pilot; county staff said a single application and August 1 program launch are planned.
Summit County officials told Barberton City Council on Monday that the county will accept and coordinate Barberton residents' Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications and pair those funds with county housing programs to expand home repairs and weatherization services.
Holly Miller, assistant director in the Summit County Department of Community and Economic Development, told council the county will provide a single application intake for owner-occupied single-family homes and will match applicants to programs run by the county, using the city’s CDBG dollars only to fill gaps not otherwise covered.
