Commissioners question remaining budget and access to MSU training materials

Luke Kulikowski told the group the earlier commission was allocated $12,000 and that “we're down to 10,640.” Committee members said they lacked documentation for some expenditures and noted that some new appointees had not received access to the online training referenced by staff.
Members discussed a three-hour in-person session held earlier that cost about $1,000, and they identified multiple follow-ups: have the clerk and recorder confirm the exact remaining balance, ask MSU (including Dan Clark) to confirm what training was delivered and whether the commission still has online accounts, and decide at a later meeting whether to pay for in-person or online training for all commissioners.
At the meeting several commissioners said they had not received the MSU course invitation or follow-up despite contact attempts. One member said she had emailed the contact person named by county staff and “I never got a response,” and another requested that the clerk provide the course-access records to the commission.
No spending decisions were made at the meeting; commissioners said they prefer to keep costs low and use free counsel when possible, and they asked staff to return with written budget details before any expenditure motion.
