Phillipsburg study commission elects chair, secretary and vice chair

The Granite County Study Commission elected Brian Sen as chair, Luke Kulikowski as secretary and Elena Galliano as vice chair during a regular meeting of the commission. The panel set its next meeting for Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. and confirmed arrangements for routine communications.

The appointments formalize leadership for the locally appointed group charged with studying possible changes to county government following a voter-approved local government review process. Commissioners said naming officers will allow the commission to move forward on education, outreach and administrative tasks.

Elena Galliano moved to appoint Luke Kulikowski as secretary, saying, “I think he would take fantastic minutes.” The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. After discussion, members voted to name Brian Sen chair; Sen said he would “be happy to be the chair.” The commission then moved and approved a motion to appoint Galliano vice chair.

Commissioners did not adopt any policy changes at the meeting; motions were limited to officer appointments and scheduling. The group also asked staff for clerical and website support and confirmed that the county clerk and recorder’s office is the administrative contact for agendas and records.

The commission’s next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 7 at 6 p.m.; members said they will continue organizing orientation, outreach and logistics in the interim. No financial appropriations or binding policy recommendations were made at this session.

Attendance and recordkeeping matters raised during the meeting will be entered into the commission minutes and followed up with county staff.
