Council approves $17.55 million guaranteed maximum price for Moorhead City Hall renovation

The Moorhead City Council voted to approve a $17,550,000 guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment for the City Hall renovation project.
Assistant City Manager Mike Reetz and Thomas Dahl of McGough told the council this amendment (GMP 3) covers the remaining work on the project, including interior finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, curtain-wall assemblies and exterior cleaning and window work. Reetz said approval of GMP 3 leaves the project about $200,000 under the overall projected budget.
McGough summarized prior GMPs approved earlier in the project: GMP 1 ($1,636,127) covered demolition of existing interior infrastructure and walls; GMP 2 ($2,316,240) covered earthwork, concrete footings, foundations, structural steel and window replacement. Dahl said the successful bid day also allowed the inclusion of roughly $700,000 in preferred alternates for comfort and acoustic improvements.
The council approved the GMP amendment by voice vote after a motion and second. No council questions were recorded at the vote.
Next steps: construction will continue under the amended GMP, and project staff will report progress to the council in future construction updates.
