Lawrence County commissioners on July 29 rejected two tax‑claim sale bids for parcels in Shannock and Nesheenic townships after one of the three taxing bodies required to approve each sale had already rejected the bids.
The first parcel (resolution 204), in Shannock Township on Fordham Road, was bid at $600 by 3DX Properties LLC (Deborah Santos). The township supervisors rejected the bid while the school district approved it; under state law the sale requires approval by all three taxing bodies. The Board voted to reject the bid by roll call; Commissioners Sainautom, Kennedy and Vogler recorded yes votes.
The second parcel (resolution 205), on Shenango Road in Nesheenic Township (parcel ID 25‑272200), carried the same $600 bid by 3DX Properties LLC and had also been rejected by the township supervisors while the school board approved it. The Board likewise voted to reject that bid by roll call.
Why it matters: state tax‑claim sale procedures require all taxing bodies with liens on a property to approve a proposed sale for a bid to be accepted. County officials said they generally defer to the on‑the‑ground knowledge of township supervisors when evaluating local property dispositions.
Details: the chair noted the parcel ID for resolution 204 was 25‑387700 (entered into the record after the first vote). The Board took each bid vote separately; both motions to reject passed unanimously.
What’s next: with the county's rejection, the parcels remain handled under the tax claim office’s process and may be offered again or handled according to tax‑claim procedures.
