County accepts two local bids for surplus trucks, will auction remaining items

SIOUX CITY — The Board of Supervisors received and accepted bids for surplus Secondary Roads equipment and directed staff to offer unsold items on public auction platforms.
Secondary Roads Director Laura Severson reported two reserve-exceeding bids from the city of Onawa (bidder Lonnie Campbell) for a 2007 single-axle dump truck ($22,501.01) and a 2009 Freightliner single-axle truck ($23,501.01). Severson said other items either received bids below reserve or had no offers; she recommended accepting the two bids above reserve and moving other items to online auction.
The board moved to receive the bid summaries and later voted to accept the two bids; both motions passed 4-0. Staff said they offered equipment to local buyers before posting to online platforms and will list remaining items on public auction sites such as GovDeals or TractorHouse if reserve prices are not later met.
Action: Two trucks sold to Lonnie Campbell for the amounts reported; unsold items will be listed on online auction sites to solicit broader bids.
