Sumner Gives Back: district distributes backpacks, launches staff service day and supports teen app project

Langford described meeting with a group of teenagers who are developing an app to help students find meaningful service opportunities for Tennessee Promise hours; the students plan to expand the idea into a leadership academy and asked the committee for support. Langford also asked for a committee vote to support leasing space for an innovation center that would host the leadership work; he requested committee members’ votes on the innovation center lease during the meeting.
Less urgent: Langford invited committee members to contact him for details on volunteer projects and said principals would have backpacks available during registration events around the county.
