Playground installation under way; memorial tree planned at Morgan Township community park

Assistant Darren told trustees on July 28 that the playground subgrade has been completed and that installation of playground equipment began the same day but progress was slowed by wet conditions. "The playground subgrade is has, been completed. The playground equipment stall began today. They didn't get a whole lot done because of the, wet condition," Darren said. Darren said the fire association will purchase a tree to memorialize Ian Quonot, a young boy who drowned; the family has approved planting the tree in the park, and Darren said he is coordinating with the family on placement. "We got the okay from the family of Ian Quonot ... to plant a tree in his memory. And, that tree is gonna be purchased through the fire association," he said. Trustees discussed timing and weather impacts. Darren said the equipment contractor expected at least three weeks to install equipment and that turf and fencing remain weather dependent; he said the target timeline could bring the park closer to being usable around Sept. 20 but cautioned that weather and remaining tasks might delay final completion. No formal motions were required for the park update during the meeting; trustees accepted the progress report and asked questions about scheduling.
