Courthouse elevator repaired, inspection passed; two front trees removed after woodpecker damage

County custodian David Dyer updated the Public Property and Law Enforcement Committee that the courthouse elevator has been repaired, will have a cap fitted this week, and passed the state inspection.
Dyer told the committee the elevator required one more day of work to put a cap on the top and that the county had passed the most recent inspection: "I got the email today for our inspection, and we passed that for the state." He also said the county had to remove two trees from the courthouse front because they were dying from woodpecker damage; an arborist cut the trees and ground the stumps and the county plans to plant two replacement trees. Dyer said that committee member George Wisset wants to plant one tree for the planning committee, and that there was talk of former clients of Anne Whiting planting a tree in her honor.
The committee recorded the maintenance update and had no additional action recorded on the item.
