The commission received a cash‑balance update covering the end of fiscal 2025. The CFO, speaking to the commission, said the commission’s cash balance is about $289,000 but that figure is unofficial until reconciliation completes in September. The staff presentation said the difference from the prior year is largely attributable to salary amounts not paid since March.
Commissioners asked whether the vacant dedicated staff role had been advertised. Staff said the position had not yet been posted while higher‑level conversations continue about the role’s duties and the city manager transition. "Did we advertise for it yet? No. So we haven't even gotten to that point just because there are conversations about what the needs are," a staff member said during the meeting.
Staffing coverage and leave: The staff liaison, Denise, said that, assuming plans proceed, she will attend the August 26 meeting and then go on maternity leave; Bruce will step in as the commission’s liaison and will handle leases and tenant relations during that period. "Assuming all goes to plan, I will be with you for August 26, and then I will be out on my maternity leave," Denise said. Staff said Bruce has been involved behind the scenes and is prepared to take over liaison duties while Denise is away.
Ending: Staff said they will continue internal discussions about hiring for the vacant position, will circulate more detailed lease and CIP materials for the commission’s August budget intake, and will confirm final cash reconciliation in September.
