West Des Moines Leadership Academy graduates present $61,525 to Human Services

Representatives of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy and the West Des Moines Chamber Foundation presented a $61,525 check to West Des Moines Human Services at the June 16 council meeting. Carly Raymond, representing the West Des Moines Leadership Class of 2025, said the class chose West Des Moines Human Services as its class project and raised $61,525 in monetary donations.
Kara Matson, vice president of workforce development and culture at the West Des Moines Chamber, and Catherine Harrington, president and CEO of the West Des Moines Chamber, joined the presentation and praised the Leadership Academy’s record fundraising. Mayor Trimble and council members thanked the class and noted the money will be used for programs they described as the "heart of the community," including a clothing closet, rent assistance and a food pantry.
No council action was required for the presentation. City staff and council members noted the donation included monetary gifts, hundreds of hours of volunteer service and thousands of donated goods as part of the Leadership Academy campaign.
