The West Des Moines City Council on July 14 approved resolutions authorizing property acquisitions for infrastructure projects on Booneville Road (South Sixteenth Street to Raccoon River Drive) and Grand Avenue (Whiting South Jordan Creek Parkway to South Sixtieth Street).
City staff said public notice was published in the Des Moines Register and that no written comments were received for the hearings. The council held the hearings, heard no public testimony, and voted unanimously to approve acquisition of the affected agricultural property for each project.
City officials described the actions as standard right‑of‑way or fee‑simple acquisitions to support planned road improvements; staff did not present detailed acquisition prices or parcel counts during the public hearing. Council members said the purchases were intended to advance projects that improve traffic flow and public infrastructure.
The resolutions passed unanimously; staff will continue negotiations and closings consistent with council authorization and the city’s acquisition policies.
