The West Des Moines City Council on July 7 approved a preliminary plat and site plan for a Casey’s convenience store that includes a 4,200‑square‑foot building and eight fuel pumps.
The resolution passed with a 4‑yes, 1‑no vote. The council attached two conditions of approval: the applicant acknowledged that no building permit will be issued before the final plat is approved by the city council, and the convenience store hours of operation will be limited to 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
No members of the public spoke on the item during the meeting. The council did not elaborate on the basis for the lone no vote on the record during the July 7 session. Staff described the item as having no outstanding issues but included the two conditions in the approval.
The applicant must comply with the conditions before construction permits may be issued.
