The Tuscaloosa City Council on May 19 approved three Alcoholic Beverage Control applications for Momentum Investments Inc., doing business as Shop and Go, at 1800 Crescent Ridge Road NE, Suite 8 (later referenced as Suite B). The approvals covered an off-premises retail beer license, an off-premises retail table wine license and a Class 2 package lounge retail liquor license. City staff introduced the applications as ABC application 25-037 a and b, and said all reports had been filed with the city clerk. Officer Champion of the Tuscaloosa Police Department told the council the police department had no objection to the applicant. The applicant identified himself as Johnny Jones of 3641 Lorna Road, Hoover, Alabama, and confirmed the filings represented a change of ownership. During the hearing council members briefly asked whether a package store already existed at the location; Jones and staff said the request was a change of ownership and that the applicant operates other stores. No members of the public spoke for or against the applications. The council voted to approve the three licenses; the meeting record shows the approvals were recorded and the clerk announced the licenses were approved. The transcript reflects some confusion in how the applicant’s name and the corporate applicant were stated at different points in the hearing; the city clerk and police reports were described as filed with the clerk’s office. Officer Champion’s statement that the police department had no objection was recorded on the public record.
