Lumen High School awarded RFP to serve pregnant and parenting students

Jessica Thompson, integrated behavioral health care supervisor at the BHASO, said the program is intended to connect pregnant and parenting high‑school students with behavioral health supports to help them succeed while finishing school and prepare for adulthood. “This new service is meant to provide some behavioral health supports to youth that are pregnant and parenting while attending high school,” Thompson said. The RFP closed about three weeks after release and the procurement scoring committee reviewed proposals before awarding the contract to Lumen High School.
Board members asked where Lumen is located. Ashley (BHASO staff) said Lumen is a downtown charter high school that serves Spokane County students and is located across from the bus plaza. Thompson said BHASO staff will work with Lumen to stand up services and begin serving the target population; a timeline for service start was not specified at the meeting.
No formal motions or funding figures were presented at the advisory meeting beyond the procurement result; BHASO staff said they will provide implementation details to the board as they are finalized.
