The Animal Control, Highway & Transit Committee approved staff’s recommendation to purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD crew cab long box from the lower bidder at a quoted price of $52,970, a vehicle listed in the county’s five-year equipment plan and budgeted for replacement.
Staff told the committee the county requested bids for three-quarter-ton crew cab long-box trucks because half-ton models with 8-foot beds are no longer available from manufacturers. The Chevrolet bid of $52,970 was lower than Ford’s $55,040 quote. Committee members discussed standard in-house aftermarket work such as adding lights and a bed liner and noted those items are typically done by county shop personnel.
A motion to approve the purchase carried on a voice vote. Staff said the truck will likely replace an older long-bed vehicle in the fleet and that outfitting (lights, bed liner) will be completed in-house.
