The Grundy County Finance Committee recommended awarding a local public agency contract for the Forgorman Road widening and deconstruction project and approved a resolution obligating supplemental Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds to complete the job.
Dan, representing the Highway Department, told the committee the project was advertised through the Illinois Department of Transportation contractors bulletin, five firms obtained plans, and Deconstruction was the lone bidder at $3,445,130.34. The engineer’s estimate had been $4,419,430.15. Dan said the project is fully funded using MFT and is budgeted.
The committee moved and approved a positive recommendation to the full board to approve the contract award. Members also approved a separate resolution to obligate the remaining $1,140,993.32 in MFT funds needed to finish the project; the original resolution had secured only the Rebuild Illinois portion to preserve that funding.
Committee members noted that Forgorman Road is in need of repair and that the bid came in below the engineer’s estimate. The approvals in committee will proceed to the full county board for final action as part of the board’s regular meeting process.
