The La Conner Town Council approved a resolution adopting the town's 2025 water system plan update, which staff said is a necessary step for eligibility in an imminent grant application.
Brian (staff member) presented the plan and said the draft was circulated to agencies and their comments have been incorporated. "We got all their comments," Brian said when asking the council for approval of the resolution. He told the council the timing is important because a grant application closes in about two weeks; staff are already coordinating with the grantor for an approval letter.
Councilperson Taylor moved to approve the resolution identified in the meeting as Resolution 6 71 for the 2025 water system plan update; a second was entered and the council approved the motion by voice vote. During discussion councilmembers noted the asset-management features included in the plan strengthen the town's position for grant review and demonstrate monitoring and efficiency practices the grantor would view favorably.
Staff explained the plan has a 10-year planning horizon, subject to legislative change, and that adoption now aligns the town for near-term funding opportunities. The council did not add amendments to the plan at the meeting. Staff said the town will implement asset-management software and that the plan will be included in future plan review cycles.
Action taken: the council adopted the water system plan resolution. Staff will finalize the resolution record and continue grant coordination, including securing any required approval letters from the grantor.
