At the June 23 meeting the Shakopee Public School District Board approved several routine contracts and resolutions: a Head Start lease extension for the Pearson site with a $50-per-month increase; a renewal of the YMCA's school-aged care agreement for K'5 with updated family fees and compensation to the district; reapproval of the EPO (alternative program) agreement on a one-year basis while attorneys finalize long-term terms; and a donations resolution accepting philanthropic support listed in the meeting packet.
Lisa (presented in the transcript as Lisa Ron) and other administrators presented the Head Start and YMCA items. Lisa told the board the Head Start lease includes very little change beyond the $50 monthly increase from last year. For the YMCA school-aged care agreement, staff said the contract clarifies fee updates for families, adjusts fees owed to the district and adds termination provisions for either party to ease an otherwise difficult termination process.
On the Eden Prairie EPO agreement, staff said attorneys finished final edits and the board reapproved a one-year contract so that enrollment and programming can be offered this fall while district staff and Eden Prairie continue discussions about a longer-term arrangement. "This will be the last time you will see it until, sometime, you know, next late spring, at which point we hope that this will become a long term" an administrator said.
The donations resolution (noted in the packet to include a Heart-related donation) was approved by roll call. The related consent items and contracts were approved in single motions recorded in the meeting minutes; questions from board members focused on routine clarifications (e.g., fee percentages and duration).
