The Hutchinson County Commissioners Court voted to table a decision on salvaging or disposing of a 2024 Ford Explorer assigned to the sheriff’s department until staff can obtain formal, written bid documentation.
Staff reported conflicting informal offers: an IAA representative indicated a potential figure “close to $12,000” but had not provided a formal written quote; another party cited an offer near $4,500; staff also cited a county salvage estimate of $5,000 as current salvage value. Commissioners and staff agreed it was prudent to wait for official, documented offers before approving disposal or acceptance of a specific salvage amount.
A motion to table the item until the county receives formal quotes passed by voice vote. Staff was directed to follow up with the listed vendors and, if the county elects to retain the vehicle, alert tax office staff so that tax and title processes are properly coordinated.
