Commissioner warns motorists after Highway 60 posted at 45 mph as schools reopen

Commissioner Billy Winters told the Bradley County Commission on July 28 that Highway 60 has a new posted speed limit of 45 mph and urged motorists to exercise caution as the new school year begins. “60 Highway now has a new speed limit, 45 45 miles an hour. So let's, keep the keep an eye on what school begins with making us a little, little concerned is when we start school and we have the buses that will be coming through there,” Winters said.

The commissioner emphasized the mix of traffic the corridor will see when school starts — buses, parents dropping off students and residents entering subdivisions — and noted particular concern for elderly neighbors living nearby. He said, “Many of my neighbors are in their nineties today, and we'll be have to do be motivating motivating their vehicles, in and out. Please use caution during the next, well, all the time, but particularly through the time that, we'll be getting school.”
