County to request council funds to continue groundwater monitoring after ARPA funds exhausted

County staff told commissioners on July 28 they will ask the county council for an additional 2025 appropriation to continue a groundwater monitoring program contracted to Entera. The county originally funded a three-year water-availability study with ARPA dollars to establish a network of groundwater monitoring stations across the county. With that ARPA funding exhausted, staff said they plan to request a new appropriation for 2025 to hire Entera to continue data collection. The presenter asked the commissioners for endorsement to approach the county council; commissioners moved and approved the endorsement on the record. Staff explained the request is to maintain and extend the monitoring work that established baseline groundwater data. No specific appropriation amount was announced in the presentation on the record. Staff said the request will go to the county council for consideration and appropriation.
