Mayor Shelley Carlson and parks staff on the Moorhead City Council highlighted a $10,000 sponsorship from Choice Bank for the Moorhead Farmers Market. The council recognized the bank’s contribution at the start of the meeting. The sponsorship will support a range of food-access initiatives tied to the farmers market, including SNAP matching dollars, market produce bucks and the “Power of Produce” club for children. Steve French, the city’s special events specialist in parks and recreation, thanked Choice Bank and said the contribution helps ensure “families of all ages and income levels can access fresh local foods throughout the season.” Council members thanked the sponsor and noted rising attendance at the market. The item was presented as a recognition; no formal council action or vote was required. The market sponsorship was presented during the recognitions and presentations portion of the council meeting.
