Theresa Petro, Johnson County recorder, told the Board of Johnson County Commissioners on July 28 that the Indiana Recorder South District meeting will be held locally on Oct. 22 and that organizers expect about 200 attendees.
Petro said the event will place approximately 150 hotel rooms on hold at the Fairfield and the Hampton (likely Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn) and that Discover Downtown Franklin and Festival Country would assist with event promotional items and local business engagement. She said the meeting typically includes an attorney panel; Petro said a local attorney named Tiffany will be on the panel and the organizers will provide her with questions in advance.
Petro also said organizers plan a charity component and that she is coordinating with the local American Legion to explore participation in Wreaths Across America and other outreach or educational activities.
Ending: The recorder presented the announcement as informational; no board action was required.
