DeKalb awards Stonecrest $500,000 CDBG grant for Farrington Road sidewalk; city to bid construction

Stonecrest — Stonecrest staff reported that DeKalb County has executed a subrecipient agreement awarding the city $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Farrington Road sidewalk project, and staff said they will move to procurement.
Assistant City Manager McCoy told the council that the subrecipient agreement from DeKalb County is in hand and the mayor will sign the agreement; the city will issue solicitations for construction and return to council to award a contractor once bids are evaluated. Staff described the sidewalk as a safety priority, noting residents — including children and seniors — currently walk in the street in parts of the corridor. The mayor and council thanked DeKalb County staff for the award. County staff in the room confirmed the award and said the county has additional sidewalk funding in its pipeline for nearby segments and will continue to partner with the city on related infrastructure work.
No procurement motion was required at the meeting; staff will advertise, accept bids and bring a contract award back to council for approval.
