Northglenn launches "Blue Envelope" program to help officers communicate during traffic stops and crises

The Northglenn Community Coproduction Policing Advisory Board and Northland Police on July 28 outlined a new voluntary program designed to make traffic stops and other first-responder contacts safer and clearer for people with communication challenges.
The Blue Envelope program asks participants to keep a copy of identification, vehicle registration and, if they choose, emergency contact information and brief communication notes in a blue-colored envelope kept in a car. A matching window sticker will indicate to officers that someone inside may benefit from a different communication approach.
