An applicant and commission members reported that exterior work approved by the Crown Point Historic Preservation Commission has begun at 302 East Clark. The presenter said brickwork is underway and invited commissioners and the public to walk by and notify staff if they see work that appears to deviate from the approved plans.
Blake, addressing the meeting, said: “Feel free to walk by whenever, we started the brickwork.” He added that the project will proceed slowly and that staff and applicants will use archival sources when restoring missing elements, such as porches, if photographs or records are available.
Commission members asked whether archival photos exist to guide porch reconstruction; staff and the applicant said they will continue searching property records and online resources such as historical street-view imagery. Commission guidance requires applicants to submit documentation to support claims that existing features are beyond repair or to justify proposed replacements. The commission did not take formal action at this meeting on the project.
