"Fair pay matters," he said, arguing that compensation affects who can run for office.
Commissioners responded that they would ask staff to gather compensation data from comparable cities and present it in a future work session or meeting. One commissioner noted the June 2 filing deadline for commission candidates and that any change would likely not affect the imminent filing period. The commission did not take formal action; staff was directed to prepare a comparative compensation report for community transparency.
