The El Dorado City Commission voted May 19 to accept the low bid of $10,900 from Stan's Farm to demolish the fire-damaged structure at 401 North Emporia and authorized staff to proceed with demolition.
Staff said the property suffered a fire and that the owner’s insurance claim was denied. The property is currently in bankruptcy; staff discussed the project with the bankruptcy attorney and title stakeholders and solicited bids. Four bids were received and Stan's Farm submitted the low, firm-fixed lump-sum bid of $10,900. Staff said the demolition cost will be placed as a special assessment on the property to be collected later.
Commissioners asked whether the bid was firm and whether the contractor would return if additional hidden conditions arise; staff said the contract is a lump-sum scope and Stan's Farm would perform the work under that price. The commission approved the motion to accept the bid and proceed with demolition.
